ATTRACT-1 - Clinical Trial For Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer | View Letter

ATTRACT-1 Letter to Colleagues

((Date))

Dear [Colleague name]:
Our institution is conducting a clinical trial of ASA404, an investigational drug to be used in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin to treat Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). We are seeking referrals of appropriate lung cancer patients for enrollment into this study.

ASA404 is a novel Tumor-Vascular Disrupting Agent (Tumor-VDA) that inhibits tumor blood flow and causes tumor necrosis. In an earlier phase I/II trial in patients with NSCLC, this antitumor effect was shown to increase the effectiveness of paclitaxel and carboplatin due to synergistic effects with taxanes. As a result, lung cancer patients receiving ASA404 in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin experienced a median survival that was 5.2 months longer than that seen in patients treated with paclitaxel and carboplatin alone.

The clinical trial is called ATTRACT-1 (Antivascular Targeted Therapy: Researching ASA404 in Cancer Treatment). ATTRACT-1 is a phase III, randomized, double-blind study evaluating the efficacy and safety of the investigational agent ASA404 in combination with paclitaxel and carboplatin as first-line treatment for patients with stage IIIb/IV NSCLC. With an accrual target of 1,200 patients, this important clinical trial may help redefine the way NSCLC is treated.

To refer a patient or discuss this study in more detail, please contact me at [insert contact information]. You can also visit www.attractstudy.com or contact your local Novartis representative for more information. If any of your patients choose to participate, we will obtain their informed consent. In referring patients to us, please be assured that our involvement will be strictly study related.

A summary of the ATTRACT-1 clinical trial is included for your information. We are excited to be participating in this trial, thus making new agents for the treatment of NSCLC available to lung cancer patients in our area.

Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,
